Lifesaver

Can I just tell you how much I love my ipod. I have to say this is one of the most perfect inventions. I take this baby to work with me everyday, plug myself in and just lose myself in the music. It is great, because I can't hear what is going on around me (I have ridiculously loud coworkers) and I can get twice the work done. It also reduces the number of people coming in and interrupting me, because they see me with headphones on, in the zone, and decide to try and find the answer on their own.

Although mine is a little outdated, it holds the perfect number of songs for me and I love that I can frequently add/delete songs depending on my mood. Mine is also much smaller than the one Adam has. Poor man. He is the biggest music freak. When we lived in NOLA he used to have to cart his cd player and his cds to school everyday. Once he was totally rocking out in the library to I think Neil Diamond and someone had to ask him to pipe down. So- when he graduated I decided to get him an ipod- 1st generation. So his ipod is huge in comparison. I tease him reguarly about it. But- at least he isn't carrying around all those other things so he is really thankful for that small blessing.

I just love this baby. I'm so happy I don't have to live without it.

I don't have an ipod yet, but am activtely wanting one. I'm a music freak and have music on constantly. It would be so nice to have a portable little system like that. I fear I'd want to have it on all day and would ignore my kids, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. Ha.

Jill and Lara, there is actually a technical name to that--"ipod therapy". We learned it in one of our parenting workshops for Sam last year (and this was recommended for nonspectrum children as well). The jist is, when the whining and vocal garbage is too much, just put on those ipods. You are there if they need you, but they know you're not just going to sit and listen to unproductive nonsense. It has worked for us as well! Is your's lime? I love it!

I need to learn how to spell check! Anyways, I too have been wanting one of these. Doug and I were contemplating on getting an ipod or xm radio for christmas last year. We ended up getting the xm to go which is great, but I too would love an ipod. Maybe we will have to invest in one this year!

Mine is lime green and I love it too. Adam actually picked it out for me. He gave up his Christmas a couple of years ago and got me one. He really is a supestar.

I'm glad to know the technical terminology. It really has improved my work environment. Although- I fear I will be prematurely deaf. I seriously crank it. Especially when I hear Journey.

I love my ipod as well. It is one of those items in my "can't live without list". It has totally changed the way i listen to music.

Ok, the 1G ipod is the greatest model ever made. I just this year updated to a refurbished U2 iPod. But I can't seem to part with my 1G either.
Also isn't it called iLifeSaver?
omt, people in libraries should mind their own business about who is rocking out.
Don't you judge me!!

Lara! Hey! I'm so glad you found my blog! I love these blog things, they are GREAT! I just started about a month ago.
Oh my goodness! you have a little girl - Lulu! ADORABLE!! I don't think I have seen you in at least 5 years, maybe longer! What else is new? Is Adam in residency? Waht are you doing for work?
A quick update from me: I graduated from BYU 3 years ago, then moved down to sunny orange county with my 2 best friends. Met my husband down here 2 years ago... and just got married 2 months ago! I've worked at a small interactive marketing agency in Laguna Beach since I moved down here. My husband, Jeremy, has 1 year left of his Linguistics masters degree... then we will start an ESL school. I love it over here in California, but it definitely has its set backs. TRAFFIC for one is out of control, and TWO - I don't think we will EVER be able to afford a house. So I guess it will be temporary. Anyways, so good to hear from you, I would love a quick update from you! and I too love my iPod. Isn't technology amazing! No I just need to get a new car so I can listen to it while I drive!

hi Lara!
I was excited to see your comment. its always fun being able to catch up with people and see what they're up to. scott and i got married in 2002 (right after graduating from byu) and then moved to oregon for a year. we moved back to provo in october of 2003 when scott got a job with a pr firm here. we now have 2 kdis as i'm sure you saw from the pictures on our blogspot. scott is going back to get his MBA at byu this fall and i'm really excited about that. mostly because once he's done then hopefully we can settle down somewhere and get a house, etc.

sorry this is so long! it probably would have been better to email it! anyway, my mom is doing good. she just graduated from tulane this may, so we're really proud of her. Laura graduated from high school and will be coming out to byu in the fall. freddie is in costa rica on his mission and loving it, and amy and jacob are still at home with my mom. and sarah has moved back there for the summer as well.

well, this was a novel, but i hope you're well. i don't think i knew the bastiens, but i remember the petersons and hamiltons and i'd love to hear how they're doing. and whats dallas like? oh and lulu is so cute and so is her name. i love it! bye for now.

love, jessica

I am so ashamed to admit that Dave got me a Shuffle for Mother's Day last year. That's not the shameful part. Guess where it is. Guess. In its box. Not installed yet. The box is next to the digital camera I don't use by the way....

I do use Dave's ipod when I go run/walking. My jog stroller has a place for it tp plug in and plays the music through speakers, Its amazing, I can't walk without it now!

I have an iPod nano I got for Christmas and it's still in the box! John laughs at the thought since he uses his all of the time. I guess i feel it's so not practical for me...I feel like I'm tuning out my kids when I use it.....maybe someday?
