Moving synopsis

Well- we officially have a new residence. It took 3 days, 40 trips (20 trips x 2 cars), 4 cases of Diet Coke (okay this isn't out of the norm) , "Get It Done Kaycee" stopping by, and Ms. Carrie taking Lulu for 2 whole days, but we are now almost moved into our new digs. Except for a few odds and ends AND my craft closet- we were able to get everything moved to the new apartment and put it somewhat in its new permanent spot! It was nothing short of a nightmare. The worst part- we have no internet for 15 days (stupid Earthlink), so I can only post at work- which doesn't help, since all my pictures are at home. Better yet, should I be posting at work?

Here are my thoughts about moving:

I took no pictures this entire moving weekend and I'm totally sad, because last night I thought about an adorable layout for a scrapbook page, but I don't have the pictures to back it up. Picture this- I was going to do a progressive page of our moving in to the new joint, starting with a photo of the totally empty apartment. The next photo of some boxes, etc.. until the final photo was our new organized, totally unpacked boxes, we can live in it place. But- I have nothing of the sort to back it up. So sad. I guess I'll just take a picture of it now and start from there.

Adam called Kaycee and Brent on Friday night and this was the conversation:

"Can 'Get it done Kaycee (GIDK)' come by tomorrow morning? I'm fine if the regular Kaycee came, but we might need the other Kaycee if things don't go according to plan. "

GIDK actually moved over 7 large pieces of furniture on Thursday night, while I was at the new place unpacking and watching her sweet boy and Adam was indisposed. And I am talking LARGE pieces of furniture. She picked up and carried a bench, that I can hardly lift, down a flight of stairs and into the car. 7 boxes of books- DONE. I large wardrobe box with total miscellanous stuff, that weighs a ton, DONE. Really- she is my hero. She attributes it to all the years of teaching and not wanting to wait for someone to come in and move her furniture around. But- I think she just has super human strength!

We bit the bullet and hired movers to move all our major furniture (surprising inexpensive). After watching the store delivery guys fight with a piece of furniture a couple of years ago, we immediately knew that the days of using the Elder's Quorum/High Priest groups were over. The company we hired was AMAZING. A girlfriend recommended them to us, so I knew they couldn't be too bad. What superstars. We only had them for 2 hours, so on Friday I got a little nervous and we started to move a couple of things we were going to leave for them- boy was I wrong. They basically had everything but the 3 biggest pieces moved in 15 minutes. They were RUNNING up the stairs. Yes- running. Adam and I had been slowly walking up those stairs for 3 days and they were RUNNING. It really felt like a Double Dog Dare. One of the guys had arms like no ones business. Total side note, my sister Katie's little boy always says "Do you want to go to a gun show" and then he puts his arms up and says "How about these guns". This is what this guy had for arms. Adam and I about died when we saw his arms. Pieces that we had been wrestling with, he picked up by himself. Like my gigantic book case. The little piece of furniture that the other delivery guys were fighting with- yeah.. like a walk in the park. We suddenly realized we better find other things for them to take, since we had to have them for a minimum of 1 1/2 hours. I started just pulling stuff out of two closets that we were going to move later in the day. Seriously- they totally rocked. I cannot believe we have been moving ourselves all this time.

By the by, who needs 15 coats a piece when you live in Texas. Seriously!

We moved Lulu into a "big girl bed" (basically the other full bed we have had in the "guest" room/Lulu's room) on Saturday night. I opted to not put up the crib. I have been so nervous every night that she will fall out of the bed, but we haven't had an incident.. yet. She was right on the edge on Saturday night, but last night she stayed basically right in the middle. Carrie offered to go find bed rails, but they were out of the half bed option and I wasn't all that excited for a full bed set. Unfortunately, I will probably go with the full bed set, because I'm not getting any sleep. All I can think of is sub-dermal hematoma. I do love that she can get out of bed by herself and run into our room and scream- "I'm AWAKE". It's really cute.

This whole no internet thing is killing me. I now have about 5 days worth of blogs to catch up on. Yikes. I also can't post anything from home- double Yikes!

I love our new place. I'm going to post pictures of the inside. It really is dreamy and our furniture fits so nicely. I am loving my new craft closet- which is accessible and near my desk (I didn't have enough room for an office/scrapbooking room, but I think my other alternative will do just nicely). Our bedroom is much larger than we first thought so that has been an added bonus. We even fit the treadmill in there, which is a No-No according to Oprah, but the only way we can use it ( it was in Lulu's room before which was virtually useless).

Our cat is slowly getting more comfortable. He was pretty freaked out on Saturday and Sunday. We only saw him yesterday for a few minutes, but he seems to be more at peace.

I have to give a hearty thank you to everyone that helped us this weekend. I cannot thank you enough for the time, energy, and support we had. It was so nice to have everything semi-organized and I know it would still be a mess if we help wasn't there. I would also like to tell everyone that Melanie said this was by far our best move and she was so proud that we were actually packed (more or less) this time around. The poor girl has experienced almost all of our moves. Again- THANKS!

Let me reiterate: if you weren't offended when she left, you haven't met Get It Done Kaycee.

Brent- if you would just learn to work with Get It Done Kaycee I'm sure y'all would be friends. I really think we got along, because I was appreciative of her efforts- Sorry to hear y'all aren't getting along. She can come to my house anytime!

Yahoo!! I can hardly wait to see pictures. I am so excited that you are in a place with very few stairs to climb and a yard where Lulu can run through the sprinklers. I bet the house looks great with all of your decor.

I have to say Get It Done Kaycee is very impressive. I can't believe she moved all of that on her own, especially the bench. She truly has super human strength!
Congrats. on a new place!

Now I want to meet Get It Done Kaycee! Totally cracking up about Adam's phone call asking for her...

I'm so relieved for you that the moving is almost complete. Let ME reiterate: moving is hell. Glad you got the powerhouse movers with the big guns.

Lastly, what is up with not having an internet connection at home? Major bummer. I've missed your posts. 3 in one day! Woohoo!
