I had to go to a baby shower at a girlfriend's house tonight. Although that isn't the exciting part- the exciting part is that we now live only a 10 minute bike ride from her house, so I decided to ride over to her house instead of driving. The nice thing is that it is basically all neighborhood riding except for one small part. It was so much fun. I am totally meant to live in some small French town that I can ride my bike. I was wearing my new cute little skirt that I LOVE. It is big and flowing and was perfect for a little bike ride. I had such a GREAT ride. I just had to share.
It reminds me of when I went to Europe with a group of girlfriends a couple of years ago, and we decided to rent bikes one afternoon. We were in Salzburg, Austria and rode out to Crazy Ludwig's castle. It was such a great memory. I still think about that day and just giggle about how much fun we had and how it was the most perfect afternoon. Good Times.

I can't even imagine riding a bike to a girlfriends house, or doing it while wearing a cute flowing skirt. You ARE meant to live in France and travel by bicycle. Who knew?
I wish the picture was actually of you on your bike. I haven't ridden a bike in so long I can't even remember.
Love love love the "french bike ride daydream", have it all the time! When I was working in Ireland I bought an old bike at a vintage second hand shop around the corner from my flat for 20 pounds, that was my transportation, and I felt oh so European.
Oh Lara, would have loved to see you riding your bike through the neighborhood, wearing a skirt, with a big silly grin on your face because you are imagining yourself in a french town, and you are so happy you are about to break into song as though you are starring in the broadway musical based on your life!
Actually, that sounds kinda fun. The last time I was on a bike I was 9 months pregnant going to the PRovo Rec center for water aeorbics. Quite a site I might say!
Lara, after having spent a year and a half riding a bike through Austria, I know exactly what you mean! My skirts were not cute and flowing like yours, but rather kitschy missionary garb, but still, I really enjoyed tooling about town on my bike, cobblestones and all! You really do feel very European! I love how everyone bikes over there - it's so healthy and just plain good for the soul! What a happy night for you!
How funny, two nights ago I was watching one of my all time favorite movies Amelie. I was thinking how wonderful and pretty she looked riding a bike (especially with a skirt). Good for you!
Amy! That is MY favorite movie of all time, in fact, so much so I am tempted to name our baby Amelie (if it's a girl).
Lara, I am getting some spam comments on my blog, did the word verification option stop your spam? I don't think it is helping me, did you do something else?
you would like our neighborhood, it is meant to ride to the grocery store, lowes and your friends house.
now i just need to have a friend
So delightful! I love riding my bike, but don't even own a skirt, so my dreams of recreating this delightful scene have been squashed. I too wish there was a picture of you riding around :) Hope you have plenty more trips in store this year.
Aw, Kristi's comment just makes me want to cry!
I recently got a bike after not having one since I was 12! Maybe I'll have to ride it while wearing a cute skirt, I like the mental image that brings to mind. I love that you could bike to your shower and picture yourself in a rural French town. I can see it!
Lars, you make me smile. You always seem to find ways to live life to the fullest. I feel like your bike riding adventure came right out of one of the old movies that we used to watch on Sunday afternoons.

The whole European thing sounds divine.
Lara this story reminds me of your movies. I still think of them and how much fun we all had watching them. For some reason Stealing Home comes to mind and I dont know why. :)
