I haven't posted in a week.. huh?

I can't believe it has been a week since I posted. We have been fairly busy.
We went to a baseball game last week. We got some free tickets and had a great time. We actually got to see a grand slam in the 3rd inning. They announced at the beginning of the inning that it was the "grand slam inning" and that if a grand slam was hit the person in a specific section, row, and seat would win $10,000 courtesy of a local restaurant. The crowd went totally crazy when everyone realized someone just won $10,000. Later they announced that the winner was a guy that just returned from a tour in Afghanistan- which got the crowd even more excited. The highly memorable game was caped off with a brawl at the end of the game. Both benches were cleared and it was totally cool. Wow- Americans are really screwed up. The crowd was totally calling for the pitcher to hit a player. It was so entertaining. I have never been to a game when an actual fight broke out.

Adam, Lulu, and I were playing a little game of chase one evening. Lulu and Adam would chase me around the house, but before they would start running- they would get in this crazy football stance. If Adam didn't have his arm up, Lulu would say "no daddy- your arm like this". It was too cute I had to get a picture.

We went to Florida for a little Craft Night Girl's Reunion. They insisted I bring Lulu. She had a ball. (See below for more of the story)

So- My grilfriend drove through on her way to New Orleans. She picked Lulu and I up for a Craft Night girls' weekend in NOLA/Sandestin, FL. I was excited, because we were able to get 4 of the 5 of us together. (WE MISSED YOU SUSIE Q.) We had a lot to celebrate- 2 pregnancies, a move to India, and unemployment. We drove to NOLA to pick up another CN girl, eat a delicious dinner and sleep. We had another 5 hour drive to Florida, so it was nice to break it up into a 2 day event. It also doesn't hurt that I love NOLA and I always have to have at least 1 or 2 meals when I go there. We got up semi early the next morning and had a little breakfast at La Boulangerie. before we headed out. We had to stop several times, but overall it wasn't too bad. Lulu was a total trooper. After 8 hours the day before, I was a little nervous about putting her in the car again, but she was a peach. It was really eye opening to drive up the coast of LA, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida and see all the damage the coast has sustained the last couple of years. As horrible as this sounds, you just kind of forget about it when it isn't your day to day life and forget that FEMA trailers are not normal.

We opted for Sandestein, because our girlfriend wanted to make it as well, so we just picked a place right in the middle. We all came together and had a great time. We rented a great little condo (if any of y'all are looking for a great multi family vacation option- I can send you the information.) that had so many fun amenities. We went to the pool for a bit and came back to eat dinner and watch a movie (which ironically enough was the same movie we rented almost one year ago on the Saturday before the hurricane.. the place we rented the movie hasn't reopened). The following day we enjoyed a quick jaunt to the beach, shopping, and more beach. Lulu loved it. She basicaly covered herself in sand, which was a bear to get off her.

We drove back to NOLA on Monday afternoon and had a delicious dinner at Lebanon's Cafe (one of my favorites) with Liv's husband Larry and one of Larry's friends. Lulu and I caught the early flight the next morning for home (the airport experience was a nightmare). Overall- it was a pretty fabulous weekend. Thanks girls.

Love the chase stance!! What a cute little family you have, Lara. It sounds like it was a perfect girl's weekend, too--we miss getaways to the pan handle. Glad to have you posting again.

It sounds like you had a great getaway. La Boulangerie -- ahhh... I would have had an almond croissant, my favorite!

Love the photos of Lulu at the beach, and of course, the football stance! Too cute! Glad you're back.

I'm glad you had such a great time, Lara! I must say, I wish I could've tucked myself in your carry-on so that I could be back in New Orleans for a bit. Do you do this girls' craft trip every year? I hope you do!

Glad you're back in the saddle again!

Fun girls week! Glad you are back, safe and sound. I too thought the coast was a bit surreal. I thought it was eerie at night how quiet things were in NOLA. Cute pictures of Lulu!

Shawna- we actually do a girls weekend at least once a year. We have gotten together a bit more because of marriages, hurricanes, and whatnot. For our 10th anniversary we are going to the Bay of Fundy (near Nova Scotia) to see the puffins.

Sounds like you had a great time--Lulu is too cute! What in the world is a puffin?

The black and white birds with the orange beaks. They have this giant preserve for Puffins and you can go out and see them on a boat. On one of our adventures, we saw an article in the Delta Skymagazine about the Bay of Fundy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_of_Fundy). We have always wanted to go.
