I got back from my Sandestin vacation to 2 monitors at my work. The monitors basically come in every quarter and verify that I am doing my job. It usually goes well and I have little to get worked up about, although this time.. not so great. It all worked out in the end, but it was a little hairy for a couple of days. In 4 years I have never had this kind of a problem, so it was a little stressful. In addition my data keyer was out of town for 2 weeks on vacation so I was doing my job and her job. Just a little crazy.

They hired my replacement. I'm a little territorial, so it has been a bit of an adjustment. It doesn't help that I'm going to have to do some serious training. Needless to say, I took a couple of days off. Lulu and I went to the zoo with Kaycee and Jonah. We had a great time and enjoyed a break in the heat wave we have been experiencing for the last 3 months. It was nice to spend a little time with Lulu. The kids were great and fairly cooperative. The lion was absolutely fascinating. He kept coughing like he had a hairball or something.

The following day we went to the art museum to see the Tiffany Exhibit with Kaycee, Jonah, Maren, and Carrie. We decided to take the trolley down instead of driving, which the girls loved. It reminded me of NOLA. The exhibit was beautiful. I have always loved Tiffany lamps, so it was fascinating that they did other things not lamp related. They had several art pieces and some fabulous vases on exhibit. I've always wanted a Tiffany lamp. Although Kaycee informed me the last one was auctioned off a couple of years ago for a million dollars or so. Adam said he will get his Ferrari first. I'm sure part of my love for these lamps has to do with my grandparents. They loved doing stained glass lamps. My mom actually has a great one that I have always wanted. I tease her that one day she is going to come home and it will be gone.

My mother in law just sent us the pillows she made for the new couch. I'm actually going to use the same fabric to recover my desk chair.
We enjoyed our nice long weekend. We had a volleyball game on Friday night. The other team forfeited, but we enjoyed fooling around for a bit and went out for ice cream afterwards. The next day we spent time in the house hanging pictures and whatnot. We have only lived here for 3 months- you would think we would be done by now. We went to Chuy's for the Hatch Green Chile Festival. They do it once a year. Adam loves it, but I still order the usual. WE invited some friends over and played games for a bit. A good time was had by all.

We enjoyed a leisurely Sunday. On Monday we tried to go to the Aquarium, but because of the rainy weather it was impossible. The place was packed and neither of us was interested in standing in line with 500 other people. We decided to try it another day and went lamp shopping instead. Our living room has no overhead lighting and I was tired of sitting in the dark. We did find this fabulous little lamp for our desk. I am sure the Tiffany exhibit helped encourage the little purchase. We went to Chuy's again for a little dinner. It was delicious.

I had to take a picture of the girls. Maren came over tonight. The girls went to bed together. They actually did a pretty good job falling asleep. We heard them carrying on for a little bit before finally falling asleep. Aren't they just adorable.
So- that sums up my life for the last few weeks. I'm hoping life will get a little better and I will start blogging again. I just need my life to slow down. I have about 3 more weeks at work and then I am free. I bought my tickets for Salt Lake and will be there for about 4 weeks. I'm excited to see my family and I'll even be in town just after one girlfriend adds a baby boy to her clan and about a week before another girlfriend adds another boy to her ever expanding clan. I'm excited to be there for my two girlfriends that are having babies. I hope I can be of some help for both of them. I'll also be able to make it to the Witches Festival at Gardner Village. It is our 3rd year of going. We always have a great time. My mom makes the kids costumes ever year, so I cannot wait to see what she comes up with this year. Here is a picture of last years event.

Since when is it a requirement to actually have something to say when we post? That's one of the beauties (and there are many) of blogging. You can take a snapshot of anything in your whole day and turn it into a post. I think our lives are full of things to say, it's just a matter of looking around. I miss your frequent posts and hope that when you finish your job you'll post often.
I love the photo of everyone dressed up like witches. That's a fantastic tradition. I've never been to the witch's festival, but that sounds fun. I hope I actually get to meet you when you're in Utah visiting.
I feel the same way about blogging lately- my life just seems mundane sometimes. But I agree with Jill- you don't have to have anything to say and I too miss your frequent posts.
3 weeks until you are free- how exciting! I would be so anxious and just counting down the days. What a good time of year to be free too- right before the holidays :)
The witch picture is great- I have never been to the festival but always am intrigued by it. Hope we all get to meet you when you are here!
Here! Here! to sometimes pointless posts (which most of mine are) it is just nice to know that your not the only one with so mundane a life. And yours is certainly happenin'. Good luck in the next little while tying up loose ends at work and making the transition to full time "home" life. You are definitely at a crossroads.
I've been thinking about you tons (thinking about your upcoming transition) and viola! a package from you arrives today. You are too good to me and now TWO up on me! So sweet! I la-love the mug!
Thanks for the summary--I now feel caught up! I adore the picture with the two girls sleeping. And you play volleball? Amazing.
I wouldn't say I play volleyball. I usually just scream and pray it goes over the net. It is our church co-ed. I'm sure the rest of the team would have preferred if I didn't show up.
I'm glad the package made it in 1 piece. I was a little nervous.
I love the witch picture. I have heard that the festival is great but I haven't been. I did go to Gardners Village twice though this past weekend with my mom.
What a fun couple of days for you. I bet you can't wait for the three weeks to be up. I am a little taken back that my Maryn and the Dallas Maren look a lot a like. If I cropped Maryns hair and did bangs, they have a striking resemblence. I can't wait to see you in October.
That is a great picture! You are officially "one of them" Lara.. hee hee hee! You are going home for a month! What does Adam think of this? Big Dave would never admit it, but I think he'd miss me crazy!
I can't wait to see pics of LuLu in her costume this year!
I am starting to count down the days until you come. The photos of Lulu are so adorable. I can hardly wait to hear her sing barbara manatee in person.
It will be great to have you here for so long. We wish that Adam could come too.
By the way, I absolutely LOVE the Tiffany lamp and couch and pillows. You have inspired me to find my own little Tiffany lamp- Jake has been looking for a few years for one and hasn't found one that he has loved. I think we will renew the quest this weekend. i'm sorry that you had a few nasty days at work. I hope that this week is better.

PS. did you hear about the crocodile hunter. :(
Only three weeks left? Wow. I felt territorial when I left my job, too. I made a training manual and trained my replacement, and that helped ease my mind. I'll be thinking about you!
I can't believe you're coming to UT for a month! I hope that means we're going to get to meet you in person...
The picture of the girls in bed surrounded by stuffed animals is priceless. I would have wanted to take a picture but probably would have been afraid that the flash would wake them. Way to go.
I thought the same as K about both Maryn's looking similar. Well anyways I am glad you are coming home... When is it again? I too had an audit at work which has kept me there from 7am until 11pm up until today which I acutally was able to get off at 6:30 mainly because the audit info had to be turned in today at 5pm. I know your pain. I wish I only had 3 weeks left of work... With my debt I will work until I am dead... Oh well. Well i am excited for you both to come and we are sad adam cant come. Mom is making some very cute witches costumes and you will be thrilled to see them. They are going to be fantastic. Love you
how adorable the pictures.....wow....
