Day 6

Camels

Elephants

Jantar Mantar

City Palace

Our cute Autorickshaw driver

We spent the day in Jaipur and enjoyed all the sites. My favorite part of the day was seeing camels and elephants in the middle of the city.Totally fascianting. We ended up hiring an autorickshaw driver again, which made the day so much more enjoyable. We enjoyed seeing the City Palace and the Jantar Mantar which were both fascianting. The most interesting thing- India does not believe in preservation. We saw these amazing 16th centry rugs that were just hanging in a room without temperature control or anything else to make sure they were preserved. My girlfriend was going crazy (she is a preservationist)- although it got us ready for the Taj Mahal. We were able to take the train back to Delhi with our original ticket. It was nice and cozy. Although the whole ride from the train station back to Marcelle's apartment was a bit of a pain, but we took care of it.

I'm sorry isn't it crazy to see large animals in the middle of town. I was always blow away by this when I was out of the country. Such a different world.
