I'm a slacker. I have nothing more to say.
This was my first week home. It went well and I wasn't ready to pull my hair out, so I'm very optimistic (which for me is huge). Lulu and I had a great week. We stayed home a lot and tried to organize the house. A girlfriend commented about the abundant number of toys Lulu has, so I decided to sort through them and get rid of the "junky" toys she has accumulated. I'm pretty proud of myself. We got rid of most of her McDonald toys (they have seen better days) and I am packing away any "baby" toys that are too young for her. I feel pretty good about the progress I have made. We also went to Ikea to pick up the fabulous bookcase Jenn bought when she was here last year. We got it in white and I also bought plastic containers to use for her toys. I'm going to sort everything and label the outside. My girlfriend Rebecca gave me the idea and I thought it was genius.
I made the best purchase of my life. Adam and I decided to buy the Melissa and Doug easel for Lulu for Christmas. It was a bit pricey, but it is basically her entire Christmas. I bought it a couple of days ago at a local store. I was out running errands today and on my way home I happened upon a garage sale that had an easel. I went back and the easel was in great shape (just a little paint that came off with no effort) and cost $5.00. HELLO. So- I bought it. Oh and they also had a great toy chest that was really cheap too ($40.00), so I bought that as well. So- for the amount I paid for the first easel I got her toy chest, an easel, and saved $15.00. Lulu's bedroom is filling up with furniture, but everything is perfect. This week we are going to paint all of her furniture white to lighten her room up. It should be fun. (If anyone has any paint suggestions for painting a wood armoire and a metal bed- I would appreciate it.)
I'm hoping I can better manage my time this week. I'm having a hard time finding a moment to sit in front of the computer to blog. I just need to set some time aside each day. I need to make it more of a priority. I have missed it terribly.

L- I painted Libby's metal bed. It was quite easy. First you buy some light sandpaper and you sand the whole thing. Be sure to sand it outdoors and use newspaper because you are sanding paint that has been on metal and you want to make sure you don't breathe in too much dust (the paint came off kind of dusty and got everywhere when I did it). Next you buy a spraypaint that is a primer. The kind I bought was for metal and turned everything gray. Spray the metal. Let that dry a day and then the next day you can use your white spraypaint. From everything I read, spraypaint is the best thing for metal. Make sure that the paint you buy can be used on metal. There are different kinds. Anyway, it took a few days to do but it looks great.
I've been wondering what happened to you, so it's good to know you were at home with Lulu and taking care of stuff there rather than being ill or upset or something.
Your garage sale finds sound like major scores! How nice to have Lulu's Christmas gifts taken care of already.
As for not finding time to blog, that's not really a problem for me. You see, as a blog addict I find myself thinking about posting as soon as I wake up in the morning, then I check in on "the blogs" many times throughout the day. What's your computer set up at home? Is it in a convenient location?
Um, I'm pretty sure you are NOT a slacker. Look at you. You are a mother - one who goes to garage sales, who paints furniture (good luck with the metal stuff) - who takes care of Lulu all day long - who helps clean her parents home -who travels to India! Nope, a slacker you are not. Just busy, that's all. When the time is right, you'll be back, and everyone will still be here. In the meantime, congrats on your garage sale finds! You scored big time. Lulu wll be one happy little lady Christmas morning! Hey - that's one other reason you are not a slacker - you have some Christmas shopping done already! See? You are so on top of things.
wow how nice to find those good finds! Specially when you were going to for a higher price! about paint i don't know, but learn some info from jen..thanks...and I think the room will look lovely for LULU! About finding time to blog, its hard for me, either I do everyone on one night or I just jump here and there, until I catch most of them. It is relaxing though to read about other girls and know that you are not the only one in the planet with issues!
Ooh, it sounds like you have been up to some fun stuff! I love it when I purge stuff from the kids' rooms, and I love good garage sale finds even more! And what do I love even more than that? Cool stuff from IKEA! Welcome back.
I've missed YOU terribly!
I got Evie's play kitchen at a garage sale for 10.00 with all the food and dishes... Don't you love that kind of serindipity?!?
I will call today!
