Yes- another post sans pictures. I need to get new batteries for my camera. Actually- I need to find my camera. Yikes!
I have been helping a girlfriend put together a book of well wishes for her friend that just recently got married. It has turned into quite the project. We spent Monday night, part of Tuesday afternoon, and Tuesday night working on it and getting everything printed, mounted, and embellished. We did a version of the brown paper bag book, but instead we mounted everything to an album similar to to a Kolo. She had too many people contributing to the book to keep it within the brown bag book. One of the contributors wrote her girlfriend a 5 page poem. It took a bit of creative thinking, but we finally made the poem into an accordian style book and ala Kristi's Christmas card from 2003 and we mounted it with some ribbon. I am so glad she posted about her Christmas cards, because I would have probably forgotten the genius that is that card. It turned out to be my favorite page. It has been fun spending time with her and seeing how really creative she is.. even though she doesn't think she is. I have also felt my creative juices flowing again. It has been awhile, so I was pleasantly surprised.
How do you keep yourself creative?

Now I really want to see the book! What a great idea for the 5 page accordion insert.
I try to do something creative every day and I would say I am successful 5 out of 7 days a week- not too shabby. Sometimes it is just making a quick card, other times it is working on something in progress. Glad your able to spend some time flexing those creative muscles :)
It is SO nice to feel the juices flowing isn't it? Unfortunately, I find those instances sometimes rare. When I'm in the mood, I seem to have three busy children around needing something. When the three busy children are then NOT around, I am not in the mood. urrrgh!
Going into a good quilt store and seeing all the beautiful fabric and project books probably helps me the most!
That sounds like an awesome gift. What in the world did the 5 page poem have to say? Are they lifelong chums or what?
I keep myself creative by making cards. I find I'm always thinking about what I want to write and wanting them to be eye-catching in the mailbox (looking nonbill-like), so I'm always trying to think creatively.
I aspire to doing something creative every day, but it's more like 3 days a week for me. I like to be surrounded by my supplies, that motivates me. Photos inspire me, as do magazines. The only ideas I get are sparked by (or directly copied from) the ideas of others!
I love it when creative juices flow. It's hard to want to stop for fear it will be a long time before returning. I think it's great you're helping your friend with such a project. Do share a photo when you can.
You know that's one of the things I love so much about blogs is that we can get great ideas from each other.
I look at blogs... Seriously, sometimes I make myself do something, I always feel better after I do. Other times I just get that itchin to make something... Then I either make something, or take a shower, either way, I feel better!
Lately I feel like I just plan things in my head but I haven't actually worked on any projects in awhile. I love when I am in that mode though, maybe after the first of the year. I hope you will post pictures of the book you have been working on.
i love getting in that mode but lately it has been a long time since...although today of all days...i was feeling so sick and ended up wrapping some gifts...and using all my new ribbon and wrapping paper, that was most delightful!
