Quick Update

Sorry- I realized I haven't posted about my doctor's visit.

We learned 2 things:

1. The genetics counselor agreed that the triples screen is dumb, but thankfully she was REALLY reassuring. She was basically shocked I was even in the chair and said I was only included in the "abnormal group" by less than 1%. Yea.. nice. The neonatologist wasn't quite as reassuring, but I think most of it was his personality, because he had NO REASON to be so pessimistic (no soft markers.. yippee). Okay- yeah.. I have an abnormal test, but so do a lot of women. I feel good. Still a little worried, but only because 50% of pregnancy don't show the soft markers and I'll only get an answer through an amnio. No Thank You!

2. We are pleased to announce we will be buying lots of clothes, because we are changing gender. Yep.. we are having a BOY. I'm excited and sad at the same time. I am a girlie girl, but.. a boy will help even us out :). Lulu took some convincing, but she is happy now. We have given up our original name of William and have opted for Theodore. A little weird, especially since I think we will call him Teddy, but I love it more each day and think it is the perfect name for the little guy. I will say I am just happy I could see all his fingers, toes, and spinal cord. Sorry- no pictures. Adam has the computer so I'll edit later.

Thanks for all your sweet comments. I really do feel reassured and at least finally feel peace. Regardless of the outcome I'm happy a boy will be making his big debut in September.

I can not wait for little Teddy to arrive. I am so excited. Girls are fun but boys well they are a joy. Cade was such a piece of cake that when I had Reise I was thrown through a loop. Just watch out for the diaper removing... I was hit by pee so many times in the face that I became a pro. I had the pre screen test also and I was in the same spot you are. Reise turned out fine other then her clumsiness. Ohhh I am so excited. Now when are u moving home?? Love ya

Woohoo! So glad you are feeling reassured and at peace now. (at least as much as you can) I would opt for no amnio too. Ew. How exciting that you are having a boy! Boys' clothes are getting cuter all the time -- they even have cute ones at Walmart!

September boys ... they don't get much better! My Owen was born on the last day of September. I am so happy for you, Lara! Being very boy-biased, I always smile when I think of moms having their first little boys. You just don't know what delight awaits you! You are fortunate indeed to be a mother to a son. And as for Teddy, he's a pretty lucky fellow to get you!

So glad you are feeing better about everything. Those tests can cause so much undue anxiety. But I know that if I were in your shoes, I would have felt the same worries.

You are a saint for going and helping Tasha. I feel like thanking you for taking such good care of her! Lara, I am amazed by you. What a kind thing to do. I know you were so helpful and really made things easier for Tasha.
