Ramblings

I guess I've become somewhat of a reluctant blogger. I have been rather busy the last few weeks though.

We had a fabulous Easter, but it was so cold Lulu had to wear an altered version of her Easter Dress. I would show you a picture, but we have somehow lost our camera. We wanted Lulu to have a small amount of candy, so instead of candy we got her a couple of other fun items: a new dress for her cabbage patch doll (it is actually my cabbage patch doll from when I was a child), a pez dispenser, two wind up toys, a couple little pets, and a chocolate Easter bunny. She loved everything and really enjoyed dying eggs. We weren't able to incorporate any of the Easter traditions from the book, but luckily they talked a lot about Jesus at school so we were able to talk about what the angel told Mary at the tomb. She also learned this new song:
(waving her palm leaf singing)

Hosanna, Hosanna hear the children sing,
Hosanna, Hosanna to Jesus Christ the King

You will also ask her what the angel said and she will say:

"Jesus is Not Here.
Jesus is Alive."

I love her school and love that it is Presbyterian. I know that sounds weird, but I feel like she gets a really great education with a religious twist.

She loved the Easter program and kept asking me where Jesus was- she wanted to see him. It was so tender.

We went and drove through the Bluebonnets. You can see a history here. It was FREEZING so we were all bundled up. Lulu was a little under the weather so she wasn't fully cooperating. Again- no photos.

The weather finally warmed up and we have had several park outings and enjoyed not being cooped up anymore. My mom flew in for an extended stay this past week. I've enjoyed having her around. We went down to see the Bluebonnets again. Luckily my mom had her camera!

I'm getting bigger and bigger. A little shocking to me, because it has been different from Lulu. I did the dumb triple screen test and of course it came back abnormal, so it has been a little crazy the past few days. I'm sure everything will be okay and whatever happens- happens, but I'm such a stress case I've now added another thing to worry about for the next 6 months, when there might not be anything to worry about. Really-I should have NEVER agreed. Kicking myself now. I go for a high level ultrasound on Tuesday and I'm hoping we will know more. I'm nervous, but know everything will be alright.

I'm also getting my plans finalized for my trip to Rome. I'm joining my best friend for a week of relaxing. I was going to be in SLC watching her kids for two weeks while she went to Africa on a Humanitarian Mission with this side trip to Italy, but now I'll watch them for a week, leave Lulu in SLC and head out to meet her. Really- I know what you are thinking... I have literally the best husband in the world. India and now this. He has been so supportive and really encouraged me to go. I will be almost 7 months pregnant, but I'm excited to have the time with her seeing such an AMAZING place. I guess I better find my camera.

You look great, bigger where?

Sorry about the triple screen, it does have a really high false negative, working at the ob I would say 8 out of 10 came back positive and none of the ladies had anything wrong. We will keep you and the baby in our prayers, all will be fine.

How fun for mom to be there for the ultrasound that will be nice.

Rome, I am jealous, well maybe not at 7 months pregnant, but still jealous.

Beautiful photos! So glad your mom had her camera.

I agree, you should just say no to those dumb tests. Like you need anything more to worry about! I'll be thinking about you, but I think Katie's right -- so many false positives as to make it practically useless.

I'm so jealous about Rome! You'd better find that camera before the trip.

Oh those flowers!!! I must come see them! I agree with Katie - bigger where? You are beautiful.

Rome?! Lara, that is awesome! 7 months pregnant? So what? Go! Enjoy! And hey, since it didn't work out for me to tag along to India, would it be all right if I stowed away in your bags for the Rome trip? I promise to be no trouble ....

Lara, I'm so sorry about that test. Of course you are anxious, I would be too. I know that so often they come back and aren't accurate, so we will just hope and pray that is the case this time. Please keep us posted. All will be well.

Those blue bonnets are stunning, and the pictures of you and Lulu are so cute. I love that tradition.

I think those awful pregnancy tests are just one more thing to stress about. I never did them (I think Utah doctors tend to view those from a religious stand point and don't push them). I hope all goes well and that you can have some peace about it.

I can't believe you're going to Rome with your best friend! What a treat, you really are a lucky, lucky girl.

I keep checking your blog to see when you would post a picture of you pregnant- still can't tell, so please put another one up later! I'm sorry to hear about the test- the followup U/S will put your worries to rest I'm sure. About Rome- how awesome! David is wanting to do an Italy trip next April so you'll have to give us tips! Do I know who you are going with?

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'll keep y'all posted. I'm optimistic, so I'm sure there is nothing to worry about.

Mindy- it is my friend I met in college, so I don't think you know her.

Lovely pictures.

I'm sorry about the test. I've had a lot of friends being freaked out for no reason. There really is a lot of false positives.

What an amazing opportunity to go to Rome. When are you going? I am actually going to Rome for a day in June. Can't wait.

Amy-
I'm heading out at the end of June. I'm actually going with Shannon.

Why only a day?

I had a mission companion who told me she went to TX to see the blubonnets and after seeing them picked up and moved there. They are beautiful!

Rome?! I can't believe it, I am so impressed with your world traveling. I don't know how you do it.

I love the field of flowers.

I think your test is over now so I hope everything went well. I am glad that you told us about it instead of stressing alone even though it is usually nothing to stress about. I am learning that it is better to have the support than to retreat and try to do it on your own.

I am impressed with your world traveling!

Sam goes to a presbyterian preschool as well and I love it for the same reasons you do. Sam can sing a great rendition of Go Tell it on the Mountain.

OKAY--ROME???? You are amazing!

LOVE the pictures, the Bluebonnets are beautiful!

Oh yes, as for the test my dear friend--so many false positives. I know it must be nerve-wracking. Thinking of you! Keep us posted.

Those are such adorable pictures or you and Lulu. I'm sure you've already framed one for her bedroom.
