Help Wanted: Family Member

These are the reasons you wish you had family living near you. Poor Lulu has been watching Little Bear for the bulk of the day while I recover from something that really no pregnant woman should have to go through. I had my babysitter over yesterday, so I was able to get out and run errands without Lulu. After accomplishing my errands (none of which required me to be outside) I came back and got Lulu and took her to have a look at her little dance studio. It has been ridiculously hot here so I made sure we each had a bottle of water. We hit the ripe old temp of 107 (without the heat index) so it was HOT even in the car with the air conditioning going non-stop. We got home and I could just tell something wasn't right. I didn't feel really well and laid down for a bit while Adam watched Lulu. It was rough night. Leaving out all the gross details I basically was dehydrated which led to a case of heat stroke. We called my doctor and she called in a prescription of Zofran which helped immensely.

I've spent the bulk of the day lying in bed and getting my energy back. Unfortunately the bulk of my "family" is either pregnant, just had a baby, or has a whole set of their own issues. We have lived away for a very long time, but this is one of those days I wish my mom lived close and she could come take the munchkin. Thankfully Adam isn't on call today so I'm not entirely on my own.

What have I learned:
1. Living away isn't all it is cracked up to be.
2. Carry multiple bottles of water.
3. Carrots- never eat carrots when you aren't feeling quite right.
4. Texas is FREAKING hot.

Edited ** Okay after several phone calls from worried friends and family I really am okay. I feel MUCH better and I seem to be on the upswing. I will now be carrying a case of water with me at all times.

Oh dear! What an awful ordeal. Definitely a time when you wish family members were nearby. So glad Adam could be there to help out, though. I hope you are feeling better today.

no wonder you did not answer your phone, or it was busy. I wish that I could have sent Kman to be with her, he would have entertained her entirely.

I totally agree about the needing family, its days like you are having that I want to cry and call mom too.

I am glad you are feeling better

Just to be sure, I would stay away from carrots altogether, unless cooked.

If only you knew someone where you lived who both had the time and inclination to help you out in these sorts of situations...

Wait! Wait! I just remembered! My wife lives in the same city you do. What a coincidence!

At least you have a picture of Lulu's Little Bear festival.

Surprise Surprise! My long lost friend...where have you been my whole life? Well, o.k. not my WHOLE life, just the last few years! You'll never guess how I came across your blog. I'm such a geek. Really.
(I hope you don't mind my blog-snooping.)
I would love to catch-up with you! Congrats on #2 on the way!

That's so scary. I know I'd never survive in the Texas heat, I'd have to stay indoors all the time and even then I'd probably be whiny (much like I am in Utah, but worse).

I wish I could help you out with Lulu, errands, or whatever you needed.
