Teddy's Blessing
While my mom was in town we blessed Teddy. It worked out well, because my dad and 2 of my 4 sisters came in town for the event as well as Adam's mom and stepfather. It was a little crazy trying to entertain two different groups, but in the end it worked out. Adam was off during the weekend so we were able to divide and conquer.
Of course, I had to make it ridiculously complicated by making dinner for our family and throwing a little party afterwards. I have this great Southwestern Cobb Salad recipe I wanted to serve. It is great for large parties, because it is so filling you don't really have to have any kind of additional side. For the party afterwards I ordered cookies from a local bakery with a big letter T in frosting. They turned out really cute. Not exactly what I had in mind, but they were fun and I think everyone liked them. We also served Texas Sheet Cake and Lemon Bars. Heaven forbid I do something easy. We made the desserts the night before which meant we would have time to make the dinner after church.
Adam did a beautiful job with the blessing. It was completely different from Lulu's blessing. I was going to have someone write it down, but I just wasn't that organized. I was able to write down the things I could remember. I loved that he blessed Teddy with a love of nature. Adam is really hoping Teddy will be a fisherman.
My dad took pictures a couple of days later because we forgot our camera (which explains why there is no picture of the whole family). I loved this little outfit. It was in a pile of "hand me downs" from a friend and I jumped at the chance to dress him in something with Teddy Bears on the front.

Lara, you are an amazing hostess and have such an amazing support system. I thank you for having me in your home at this crazy time. I enjoyed it, and just loved being with you and the two little ones. You are a wonderful mother, who taught me true patience and how to live not just endure.
I want that recipe, I loved that salad.
Another classy event by Lara. Whatever gene that is, I don't have it. I'm excited when I remember to have napkins for my guests, let alone color-coordinated ones. Sounds like Teddy's special day was great.
He looks adorable and all the food sounds wonderful. I just love baby blessings. (When Eva was blessed, a woman in my ward who knows shorthand jotted it all down and typed it up for me! I was so pleasantly surprised.)
wow that table looks sooo pleasing and tasty....
Adam and I can't get over how much Teddy looks like Lulu as a baby! He's darling!
He is so beautiful! What a bummer about forgetting your camera! But, think of it this way--we had our camera for Alex's blessing, and we still didn't get a good picture of the family, so the whole pictures thing can be disappointing one way or the other.
Sweet baby Teddy pic. I love the blue/brown combo on your table.
I like the cookies even if they weren't what you had in mind.
When Griffin received the Sacrament of Baptism, we were living in Texas and I ordered a huge, inexpensive sheet cake from Costco for his reception after the service. It was nice, but not what I really had "pictured" in my mind. It just looked sort of like a Fiesta cake or something. Now I look back at the pics of that cake and don't see why I was so focused on it!
