Explain this to me

There are several things I don't understand:

How can it be 50 degrees today and so cold I never got out of my warm pjs and my slippers, and tomorrow's high will be 75? Seriously- hello pick a temperature and stick with it. I cannot take this up and down, up and down. All last week-- beautiful. Saturday I wore a skirt and my ballet flats. Sunday- I went to church without a coat, but still wore a short sleeve turtleneck. When church was over I was freezing. It literally dropped at least 10-15 degrees in those 3 short hours. Our heater has been kicking on fairly frequently all day long and the thermostat is set at 67.

Adam got his paycheck and he was shorted a fairly large sum. When he investigated, he was told that it was because they showed him only working 52 hours in the pay period. I'm sorry.. come again. First off, he is a salary employee. Secondly, exactly when did y'all start having him punch the time clock. And last but not least.. 52 hours. You're kidding.. right? He worked 30 hours between his call Saturday- Sunday. He works 80 hours a week because.. it was mandated (otherwise we would be looking at 100+). I know.. we got it resolved, but I can only imagine the poor employee that got Adam on the other line. He recapped the conversation which began with laughter at the 52 hour comment and ended with laughter when they told him his "time card" reflected the 52 hours. Although Adam is much calmer than I am. I would have gone crazy if I were in charge of figuring out the problem.

I like things to look the same. My shoes and handbag always match. I know- rather old fashioned, but I like it that way. However, I do not like the fact that our neighbors (actually they live above us) have taken it upon themselves to decorate the joint front yard for Christmas. I'm fine with decorating, but do we have to use a large number of non-matching lights. We have light blue lights that look like they belong on an airstrip along our sidewalk with a totally different color of blue on the lamp post. On the tree we have multi-colored lights. Snowflakes in the grass are a third shade of blue. And finally reindeer that are white lights and their heads move. Oh- I forgot the hanging icicles from the balcony- also white lights. I know.. I shouldn't be complaining-- they did decorate the outside, but I just wish it wasn't such a bizarre hodge podge of colors. I happily admit I am completely boring and like everything the same!

Why is it too much to ask for a label that is either 5x7 or 4x6? I am trying to finish my Christmas cards and unfortunately was unable to find an easy solution to my holiday letter. Okay- it isn't really a letter, but a short table of the fun and exciting things we did this year. I used a label last year and it worked out so perfectly, Little to no effort. But now, with a 4th person in the mix I needed a bigger label. Unfortunately I couldn't find what I was looking for. Drat. Back to the drawing board.

In an effort to not sound like the most angry person ever- I'll end this post on a happy note. Christmas cards. Oh- my FAVORITE part of the season. I am seriously one of those people that runs to the mailbox so I can look through the mail for Christmas cards. I LOVE them. Seriously- LOVE THEM!!! I'm so excited to mail mine out. We got a great family photo- yippee with everyone (including the 3 month old) looking at the camera and smiling to varying degrees. I am very pleased. See for yourself.

If you're cold at 50 degrees, be glad you're in Texas! It's in the 20s here right now. I'm impressed that you always match your shoes and purse -- I never want to bother with changing purses, even though I have several that I really like.

The whole paycheck thing is the kind of thing that drives me nuts. How did they even come up with him having a time card?? OK, it's resolved. Breathe...

I like a certain uniformity in Christmas lights as well. Your yard sounds a bit busy! But very festive, I'm sure.

Your picture is adorable! Could Lulu look any cuter? And Teddy looks so big.

I soo love the family photo. Your family is adorable, Lara! I'm so envious of how well you put together your cards every year. My New Year's resolution EVERY YEAR is to put out a Christmas card at year's end, however it always becomes sooo overwhelming, and of course NEVER gets done. Congrats on the adorable baby boy!

I have to laugh because since you were 2yrs old you have always had a purse on your arm and then shoes and you insisted that you couldn't use a black purse with brown shoes..... does this sound familiar? Isn't there another person in your house that has a certain attitude about what she wears...hmmm wonder where she gets it? Hey is Teddy's hair red? Love the picture and the comments. Take a picture of the house so we can see the decor.

I would love to see the mismatched lights. Those drive me crazy as well. Hey, at least your neighbors aren't supporting those silly blow up things. Those are just lovely :)

The paycheck thing probably would have given me a heart attack since I look forward to that each 1st of the month.

Your Christmas photo turned out so good! Impressed that Teddy was even looking. It's so hard to catch.

your picture looks adorable. I am so found of the idea of matching purse and shoes...but lately it is not working. I can't believe the weather over there...it is freezing over here...I can't but help and think of all the poeple that have to sleep outside, it is heartbreakening. I guess I think of this, when I am going to go to tijuana, or mexico and I am just gathering a whole bunch of stuff to take on my next trip...burr....

OH my goodness, oh my goodness. I love the picture. I can not believe what a ham Teddy is and LuLu looks like she is 5. She looks so grown up. I am so excited to see you guys in January that I can barely contain myself. I will not be traveling like I had thought so I will be here. You need to call me and tell me the dates you are for sure coming so I can take work off to hangout with my lovely sister, niece and nephew. I seriously am so excited. Can't wait for the Christmas card!
