I Love A Good Rodeo

Lulu, Teddy and I joined a couple of friends at the rodeo on Friday. We have been going for the last couple of years (except we missed all the excitement last year) and I'm always excited when January rolls around. Here are a couple really bad pictures from our rodeo attendance.

I think most people would be a little shocked that I love the rodeo and all things cowboy so much. I think this is why I LOVE Texas so much. I could live here for forever if it means I can go to rodeos and own my own horses. Adam and I have actually been talking about the prospect of owning horses and finding some land. Shocking isn't it. Although it seems like all the land is getting taken so it is a little depressing to us especially since we aren't really in the position to buy a second home- especially since we haven't even bought a first home.

Now you haven't been to a rodeo until you've been to the prison rodeo in Louisiana, near St. Francisville! And I say that having lived in Texas too.

Glad you had fun, my kids love the rodeo too although no cameras are allowed at the one we go to - privacy rights of the inmates, I suppose. . .

Loved the pictures. You're right, I would never in my wildest dreams picture you as a cowgirl. You can buy land and then the house. My parents had a horse in Nebraska and Washington for my younger sister.

Natasha- we were going to head to the Angola Rodeo before we left NOLA, but I ended up with hives and had to cancel our plans (we were leaving to go out of town the next day for 3 weeks and needed to get it resolved). I still think the whole thing is a bit questionable in regards to coercion, but who am I to judge?

I'd have to say I am having a bit of difficulty reconciling my image of you and loving the rodeo. Huh, what can I say? You're a complex woman, Lara!

I have never been to a rodeo, which is a little unbelievable since the rodeo is a Hanks family tradition. And I've been a member of the Hanks family for almost 9 years. Maybe this year will be my year.

Hey, I can totally understand the draw of buying your second home before buying your first. Jeremy and I almost did that a few years ago, but then I came to my senses and realized that I wanted a first home first. We almost bought a second home again last year, but then we came to our senses again when we realized it would stretch us too tight! Your day will come. You'll have a pasture full of horses and you and your children will be beautiful riders--though you may want to discourage Lulu from falling for any rodeo cowboys! ;)

I AM shocked that you like rodeos. As I looked at the pictures I was actually thinking to myself, "I can't picture Lara at a rodeo."
