Happy Freaking Valentine's Day

Do I sound bitter? I had such high hopes for this holiday, but no such luck. Adam is out of town at a conference, so it was just me and the kiddos. We had a nice day. Lulu had dance and then her little preschool had a Valentine's Day party. They exchanged valentines, played, and ate cupcakes. There was a ridiculous crying fit because of a lost balloon. We told her it was going to heaven, which seemed to make it much easier. I'm sure it also helped that the sweet host gave her another one. Afterwards we headed to the Arboretum with Kaycee and her kiddos for a beautiful day in the sun (we have been blessed with great weather the last 2 days). Her husband was also MIA for the holiday and so we opted for a Valentine's Day dinner together at Chuy's. Yeah.. nice. It was great company and we had a nice time celebrating together. Lulu and I came home and opened the game her dad sent her for Valentine's Day. It was fun and I think in the end she had a nice day. At least I hope so. I've become okay with the fact that not every holiday can be magical and in the end she will remember them fondly.

I realize- it could have been so much worse, so I'm thankful for small mercies.

In her little memory, I am sure she will remember it as a great day. As for you, you can file it under "times my memory has chosen to blur together into a fog so I will not become a bitter hag by the time my husband finishes training." Swear, it works. Kind of like the first 6 months with a new born, or child birth. If you could stronlgy recall that amount of pain, how could you ever like your kid??, right? Glad you had friends to enjoy the warmth with. We went to the ward ski party, but we went tubing. It was pretty cold...

I am still trying to figure out what geniuses plan conferences over Valnetine's Day???

Seriously, a conference over Valentine's Day? Idiots.

I loved Tasha's comment, keep telling yourself that little mantra of hers. Sometimes the holidays are all about the kids...

Holy cow, you did more for your V day. Sorry Adam was gone, didn't he just get home.

I figure that if I have selective memory than my children will too.

I am like you though, wanting it to be special and fun... although I have learned that they really do think it is special, even if it is pink pancakes for breakfast.

She's so little, she probably won't remember any of it. I certainly don't remember Valentine's Day from when I was 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and so on.
