5 for Friday
1. I had a lovely mother's day. I'm usually not a big fan, because every 7 years its my birthday so I feel like I'm cheated out of a holiday, but this year was rather pleasant. We took a picnic lunch to the arboretum on Saturday. Completely amazing given Adam is currently on a terrible rotation and the weekends are always the worst. On Mother's Day we went to church and when we got home Adam was already there (he didn't make it to church). I got to take a rather long nap and he and Lulu made dinner.
2. My birthday was another story. I swear they just keep getting worse. Because of Adam's aforementioned rotation he got home at 9 pm that night. Which is compounded by the fact that it was his birthday as well (yes we share the same birthday) so we didn't even get to enjoy it together. He did stop on his way home and pick me up a fruit tart and roses. He gave me my mother's day/birthday gift on Sunday. I gave him all the gear needed for Rock Band, which he loves. It was just all around an uneventful day.
3. I stayed up all night finishing the gifts for Lulu's teachers. Traditionally everyone pitches in and we get one big group gift for each of the teachers. This year I thought it would be fun to make a photo album with a little questionnaire each child completed (there are only 11 kids). It took a ton of work, but it turned out pretty cute. I also went and got a mammoth sized gift card for each of them. They loved the gifts, especially the albums. Now if I can just get the other 6 moms to pay me.. that would be great. Otherwise I have just given them one gigantic gift from me.
4. Thursday I noticed I had a bit of a fat lip, but it is fairly normal for me because of my Lupus. I wasn't too concerned. Adam noticed it when he got home at 8:15 pm but I explained that I get them all the time and it would go away in a couple of days. I laid down on the couch and finished watching Grey's. I sat up and mentioned to Adam that my lip was bothering and it felt weird. He got this concerned look on his face and told me I needed to call my doctor. He said I had some kind of crazy side effect that is common with my blood pressure medication and we needed to call the doctor to see if she wanted me to increase my steroids. I looked in the mirror and I swear I was the poster child for how botox can go bad. If I put my lips together I looked like I only had one giant lip- you couldn't even see the top. I will never be able to explain how huge my lip was. I didn't take pictures because I never want to relive the experience. We talked to my doctor and I stopped the meds and took a little Benadryl and some additional steroids. By this morning it was pretty much back to normal. Just a little swollen, but it has progressively gotten better throughout the day. Seriously.
5. My girlfriend got me this hysterical notepad for my birthday (in case you can't read it.. it says.. Well la de frickin da!). Honestly- as you can guess it sums up my life right now. Oh everything is fine, but if one more thing happens I'm going to lose it!
And just because it is funny- this is what Lulu was hiding from me on Tuesday morning. She came into the bedroom with a blanket on her legs and when I asked her what she was hiding she told me there was a pen in her bed and she wrote a list. She said it was her grocery list.

Did you gets eggs on that list?? We're almost out.
Silly Lulu. She cracks me up.
Okay, so it's sad that I'm living my life as your friend through your blog. And we're not so far away. So, how about a date for the Arboretum next week? The only day I'm busy is Wed, so any other time is great. Email me and let me know if you're free.
I can't wait to see Lulu again and meet dear Teddy...he and Aidan will be such great little buds!
Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I am sorry that I missed it. Lately I've been more scatterbrained than normal. But Aidan is finally sleeping through the night, so maybe I'm coming out of it!
OK enough of the novella....adios!
Hi Lara! You are funny, you know that. And so real and down to earth. It was fun to get caught up with your life - so glad that lip settled down. And your little Lulu is a hoot. Lipstick and grocery lists. I'm sure she keeps you hopping!
Good luck with your new/old job!
Sorry your birthday was uneventful. That really stinks you have to share it with Mother's Day.
And so scary about your lip. I am glad it wasn't anything serious!!
Your kids are so flippin' cute. Perhaps we should get you that note pad as well :)
Happy belated birthday!
That is the cutest picture ever of Teddy. I am not surprised you stayed up all night working on those books. They were way too cute to have been done quickly.
Ah, the birthday as an adult. It gets better when the children get older and start to participate in the celebration....."D

As to your #3 entry! I hear ya sister! The year-end gift thing can be so time consuming. That's why a girl friend and I created a website that will make "the next time you need to organize a group gift" a piece of cake! It's called "from: Everyone" and it's all about making Group Gift Giving Simple. Check it out and let me know what you think - www.fromeveryone.com. By the way, where are you in Texas?
