Six for Saturday

1. We are holding a crawfish boil today so it has been some prep work this week. My girlfriend and her husband actually planned the event, but needed Adam to come and cook it for them. Although they lived in NOLA with us, they have never been in charge of a crawfish boil. Luckily we did one last year, so we were up to the task. I'll post about it. I just hope it goes well.

2. I'm a working woman again. An old co-worker called and told me my old job was vacant and they were wondering if I would be willing to come back and help them finish out an NIH funded study. They said it would be part time and I could work anywhere from 0-16 hours a week. They are completely flexible with my hours and just want the job done. I'm really excited and actually had my first day back on Friday. It quickly reminded me why I left the crazy place. I think it will be a great opportunity and will keep me marketable.

3. I went to see a play this week at a local theater group (it was a Moliere play- didn't love it). It is a standing engagement with 3 other girls in my ward. We usually go to dinner beforehand and then to the play afterwards. We have seen some really fantastic plays over the last year. I was sad that this is the last one until next season. I really enjoy the time we spend together. Each of the woman are so fantastic. One owns her own organic skin care line (she has the first and only line that is actually USDA certified organic) and was recently named one of the most beautiful people where we live, the other owns her own jewelry line (she amazes me with each new piece she designs). I'm talking serious line- she has a permanent show room at the NY market and some of her earrings were in the movie Enchanted (just one of many places you can get a glimpse- she is regularly in In Style, Cosmo, etc..) and the last girl is the mother of two adorable twins that are just a few months older than Teddy and a darling 3 year old. Her husband is working crazy hours and getting his MBA at the same time. She also is a Modbe distributor. The thing that kills me.. she makes it look sooo easy. Especially when her husband doesn't get home until after the kids are all asleep and leaves before they are awake. Truly an amazing collection of woman.

4. Because of #2 I'm trying to reconfigure my trip out to SLC. We will see how it goes. I'm going to end up staying closer to 2 weeks vs 4.

5. Teddy is getting close to crawling. He is doing the rocking thing on his knees fairly frequently and has also started jumping and moving himself forward. It is rather funny.

6. We had book club this week and read To Kill A Mockingbird. It lead to a great discussion and I really enjoyed myself. My girlfriend made a delicious and simple Buttermilk Pie. She is one of those fancy cooks that her husband frequently begs her to make brownies and she just laughs at him and hands him a souffle instead. He actually commented that they were going to have pizza for dinner, but not homemade pizza- Pizza Hut. He was very adamant that they were not making it. She always tells him that he has no idea how good he has it. I've eaten with her and I completely agree.

I loved the picture of Teddy. Be sure to send one to the great-aunt that sent them to him. Sounds like you're busy'

I am jealous on almost all acounts! That job sounds dreamy! It sounds like its time limited, or if I know you, they will be twisting your arm to stay?

The girls night out sounds amazing!

Luckily, Dave never pines for fast food, but he never argues when I say, lets net take out, either!

I will take any time you can come, but tell them you had a prior arrangement with the Beehive State and the 24th of July, hello!

You do have some impressive friends. But I think you can hold your own with the talented bunch. I've seen your work.

A crawfish boil sounds like so much fun!

Your monthly dinner/play girls' night sounds wonderful.

To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my all time faves.

Ah a crawfish boil, hearing about it makes me heartsick. I miss you guys. Also, I think you should be named one of the most beautiful women in University Park. Ruth
