State Fair of Texas

The state fair is in full swing, so we headed over this past week. We went with my usual partner in crime, Carrie, and her kids.  We went to the Little Helping Hands Farm.  The girls enjoyed gathering eggs, milking cows, and planting produce.

They also loved the petting zoo and were quite fascinated by mamma pig that started nursing her 10 piglets. We saw the always fantastic bird show. The funny thing: we see it every year and it really NEVER gets boring. Although Teddy was more interested in eating an Oreo cookie and smearing it all over the man sitting next to me.  If you are wondering, he DID NOT think it was cute.

The worst part of the little outing- they have safety bracelets for the kids. I put one on Lulu's arm when we first arrived. She kept fooling with it.  I encouraged her to leave it on. We saw some police officers so I asked them if the small children needed to wear the safety bracelets. They didn't understand at first, but finally caught on that the only reply was "yes, it is very important to leave your bracelet on, so you can be safe."

After this little talking, I thought for sure she would keep it on. However, she took it off and then proceeded to hide from every single officer we saw, because she thought they would be mad and take her away. It all seemed like a good idea at the time. So now she doesn't have a bracelet and is completely terrified of the officers. We were able to talk to another officer and get her situated. By the end of the day she was waving to them, which was a good sign.

All in all, we had a very lovely time.  Do you wanna come next year?

Cute pictures! We went to the State Fair here and the "big attraction" here was fried pb&j's. The line was a least an hour and half. Seriously, I think the only thing that I thing I would stand in line for is fried cheese or something;)

Fried pb&j's, huh? Marc told me that somewhere (of course I can't remember) fried Mars bars are the thing, can you imagine?

My favorite part was the Oreo incident and the man who did not think it was funny! And the nursing pig -- can you imagine how dirty that pig is? Oh the wonders of nature.
