There are reasons why you don't let people younger than 18 vote. They have the potential of saying "I'm not voting for them because they hurt my feelings," or some other ridiculous nonsense.
I just got back from working out and watching a couple of speeches at the DNC. After Hillary's speech they interviewed a delegate from Texas. She was going on and on about how Hillary's speech was a "presidential" speech and that she should be president. She continued on that she was there as a delegate for Hillary and she would be casting her vote at the convention for Hillary. She also indicated that she doesn't have anything in common with Barack and if he isn't able to win her over in the next 2 months she is sitting this one out.
SERIOUSLY!
What is up with people not recognizing that if they are a Hillary supporter and refuse to vote for Barack, they are basically voting FOR McCain? So you think you have more in common with him? I'm pretty certain that if you are a democrat voting for a democrat it is going to be at least a little closer than voting for a REPUBLICAN. Did you actually listen to this "presidential" speech? She said she doesn't want 4 more years, that she doesn't want John McCain and that you should vote for Barack. It's funny that people are so willing to give it all up because someone hurt their feelings.
I just want to get this straight, if Hillary had won would you expect any less of a Barack supporter? No. You would expect them to buck up and get out the vote. You would expect them to vote for HILLARY.
GROW UP!!!
Although- I guess it all makes sense because really the Clintons are being somewhat ridiculous as well. Bill is boo-hooing that Barack isn't bringing him in as a confidant that he isn't patting him on the back for his years of service. It is a little too much me, me, me.
You gotta love campaign season.

Is that an actual profile picture of you I spy? Woohoo.
This is an amusing post. I hope you'll continue to share your political observations and opinions with us, you're far more entertaining than the news!
I was watching last night and had to turn it off during her "presidential" speech. Voters (and former candidates) can be so stupid sometimes.
I just love the line--"It is a little too much me, me, me."
Ha, isn't that what politics is?! :)
So we should never vote our conscience, then? Should we always go for the lesser of two evils instead of the candidate we really want? Does it bother you that that's the main reason why we live in a two-party system?
I haven't voted for a major party in my lifetime.
You can be comforted in the knowledge that most of McCain's people said the same thing about Bush in 2000. Eventually though, by the time it mattered, they all came home and voted McCain. I think the same thing will happen here.
Jill-
I know.. I look crazy, but I could not keep a straight face.
Michelle- I actually liked her speech, but I thought the Harriet Tubman inclusion was appropriate, yet obvious.
BRENT- my issue is that they would rather pout then vote. The woman actually said she would SIT THIS ONE OUT. Really, you are that egotistical. There are lots of candidates that I hate from all parties, but I would vote for the one that is more aligned with me politically. Even if my candidate of choice was not an option. I don't care who she votes for, I don't care if she votes for John McCain. I just don't understand why you would willingly damage the party because your feelings were hurt.
But she can still vote for Hillary regardless of where she votes. Every state in the nation has a write-in area.
I hear you. They are all being a little ridiculous. I love all the "I'm moving to Canada" comments I keep hearing around here. I just want to say "Wait till you see their sales tax, crappy socialized medicine and gun laws my armed utah friends. No ya won;t..."
Oh well. This whole campaign has been going on for way too long. It should be like the olympics-16 days. If you can't get it done in 16 days, what good are ya?:)
Lara -
I SO hear you on this. I have a difficult time believing that anyone who supported Hillary now finds themselves more closely aligned with McCain. Seriously. I shudder to think.... well, let's just say that I have used the "move to Canada" line myself, Tash, and I think that it just shows how fed up some of us are growing!!!!
Grow up, indeed.
So if ya'll are fed up with who is running.... what are you doing to help someone you want, to run for office? Did you see a candidate you liked? Did you work on their campaign? Too many of us complain and think we can't do anything about it... yes we can... support the person you want by working on their campaign, donate money and time... and vote
I so agree with you on this- and Tasha on the 16 day thing! This whole thing feels like the longest campaign ever, or maybe that is just because I am old enough to really care/understand what I am voting for. I can't imagine NOT voting now, so to sit one out because of hurt feelings? I don't think so!
I just think this year will be a joke anyway but one should STILL vote. Good grief - there are millions of people all over the world who would die for the chance to vote. Exercise your rights!
I have been quite enjoying the DNC, and we will also watch the RNC next week. All of the empty promises, and I do believe they are empty (on both sides), all of the power suits, all of the little scripted moments, like when Obama's little girl kept talking when he was on screen. What I like most about the convention is to see the attendees get so excited. These are people who have beliefs, who have goals, and who believe in the political system to fix them. I feel a little cynical at this point, but it's nice to know there are people who don't.
By the way, great picture!
Take my advice: See what grade the NRA gives the candidates and vote based on that. It is the second amendment, you know. Only second in importance to the first one.
