On Friday I had a class I went to in the morning and when I got home Adam was just putting Lulu to bed. He had to go to work so I just straightened the house while she was "sleeping". I would say 30 minutes after I got home I could hear her moving around and could hear a slapping sound. I just ignored it, but then I got a strong smell of something. I went into her room and there she was.. buck naked holding her diaper and smearing "lotion" on her body. But.. that’s right it wasn't lotion- it was Metholatum. She found the small jar of Mentholatum we had been rubbing on her back and chest to help with her congestion. She was standing holding her diaper and was just so proud of her achievement. It really was quite funny, but also totally horrifying. She had it in her hair on her face and ALL OVER MY GRANDMOTHER'S DRESSER. AHH.
I put her in the tub and the water was beading up on her skin. 3 days later her hair is still pretty oily, but she her skin was glowing with all the added moisture. Again, no pictures- drat.

my nephew spread ky gelly on himself one day. Those gels never really come off with one wash do they. She is way too funny, and man you have your hands full with her mischievious side.
Ya gotta love kids. That story is pretty funny!
Oh my gosh! Grandma's dresser!!!!
I miss Lula belle! I can hardly wait to see you guys especially Lulu's glowing face.

This is too funny! Mya did the same thing with Desitin once and she smelled like that for at least a week. Hard to be upset when they are so pleased with themselves huh?
thats hilarious! ethan had really bad excema when he was younger and his skin would get really dry in the winter. we use to slather him up with vaseline before bed time, and one night we went to check on him after putting him down, and he had the jar of vaseline and was busy smearing it all over his face and hair. i don't think we even bothered trying to clean it off.
At least it wasn't poo, I like the smell of metholatum. Sigh.
I'm with Jordan, I completely thought the next line was going to say it was poo! I bet she smells GREAT. No pictures?!
So funny! Good thing she didn't rub her eyes that would have been a mess!
Jessica poured the whole bottle of baby oil over James' head when he was a baby and rubbed it in. Luckily they were in the tub but he was shiny and had greasy hair for days!
What a mess, but I agree with Jordan, at least it wasn't poo. Your house must have smelled metholrific after such a slathering, but hey all your sinus' were clear right?
At least it was something that doesn't smell too bad, eh? Although I hate it when there is something greasy in the hair and you can't get it out. And the dresser? Oh my. I would have liked to see a photo of her all glowing!
Good times, Lara! My little brother once did the same thing with Vaseline. I thought it was hilarious! My mom, who had to clean up the mess, wasn't as amused.
Like several others, I was afraid you were going to say Lulu had smeared poop on herself! As a mother who experienced that horror just today, I am happy that your daughter went with Mentholatum. Even after Owen's very looong bath, he still smells a bit offensive!
Oh Shawna- what a nightmare. I am thankful that Lulu only used Metholatum.
The is HILARIOUS! I especially love that her hair is still greasy! Oh funny stuff. Miriam put a glob of Eucerine lotion on our freshly painted walls the other day...I went nuts!
