I've noticed Lulu picking up a couple of my weird nuances lately. Just today she said "Lady- will you just drive." Yeah- my bad. All my years of talking to other drivers has suddenly become a liability. I'm sure my friend Shannon is giggling somewhere- she always warned me about this little habit of mine. It kind of amazes me what a sponge she has become. I have noticed that she even "reads" her books like me.
Lulu loves the book "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus". She has loved Knuffle Bunny for months, but has only recently discovered this little dream recently. We have read it enough times, that she now reads it to herself (or to anyone that will listen) fairly frequently. At night we read a couple of books and then leave her with a few to "read" on her own. We can hear her yelling at the top of her lungs "LET ME DRIVE THE BUS."-- (I guess I should tone it down a bit.) It makes me giggle everytime. Although the section where the pigeon says "what the big deal- it's just a bus".. "I have dreams you know". She is reading it fairly closely to how I read it to her. She even gets a little sad when she says it. It makes me laugh and again shows kids pick up on.
It has been great spending so much time with her. Although- I think she is purposely trying my patience in some aspects, but overall.. we are doing quite well.
**If you haven't picked up either of these books, I would strongly encourage it. I know there are several others out there by the same author.

I LOVE those pigeon books -- they are favorites of Lucas's as well. Love the image of her "reading", following your inflection. She's already learning how to do it right!
This is so cute. I too have noticed some things that Mya says lately that I have to re-think about saying around her- or anymore for that matter. Love that Lulu reads to herself.
I read the pigeon book with Whitney just the other day, it's so funny. I haven't heard of the Knuffle Bunny book though.
My kids have been known to mimic my driving comments as well, and while I feel some guilt for influencing them I must say that I'm still right and people do drive like maniacs and idiots. Why is that?
We love knufflebunny, thanks to you!
That Lulu is something else! I wish you were here for thanksgiving!
Have heard much about these pigeon books! Need to check them out! I had to giggle thinking of Lulu reading the book and mimicking your voice. So cute!
I'll have to check out those book. I've never heard of them.
I think it's really funny, well sometimes, when they start repeating what you say in the car. I hear "common buddy" a lot.
